Friedrich Merz Re-Elected as Leader of Germany's Christian Democratic Union

Friedrich Merz has been re-elected as leader of Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

The delegates of the 34th CDU Federal Party Conference voted Merz into office with 95.33% of the votes. This marks his second term as party leader after being first elected in January 2022.
